Terms of Use — HiKLabs

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the HiKLabs platform, websites, and related services (collectively, the "Service") operated by HiKLabs (the "Company", "we", "us"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

HiKLabs is a matching platform that connects prospective graduate students with university research labs in Korea, and supports the scheduling and conduct of video interviews together with AI-assisted interview reports. Certain features rely on third-party services, including video conferencing provided by Zoom.

2. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 14 years old and able to form a binding contract.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Zoom Integration

Lab users may connect their own Zoom account to the Service via Zoom OAuth to create and host interview meetings. When you connect Zoom, you authorize the Service to create meetings on your behalf and to receive real-time media streams (audio) from interview meetings in order to generate transcripts and interview reports. Your use of Zoom is also subject to Zoom's own terms and policies. You may disconnect the integration at any time (see the Zoom integration guide). Details of the data we access and how we handle it are described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose;
Upload or transmit content that infringes the rights of others or violates applicable law;
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or connected systems (including Zoom), or interfere with the Service's operation;
Record, transcribe, or process an interview without the knowledge of the meeting participants where such notice or consent is required by applicable law.

5. Interview Content & Reports

Transcripts and AI-generated interview reports are produced to support admission and matching decisions. Such reports are provided for informational purposes and do not constitute a guarantee of any admission, employment, or other outcome. Retention of interview content is described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates third-party providers (including Zoom, AWS, Anthropic, PayPal, and email delivery). We are not responsible for the availability, content, or practices of third-party services, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms.

7. Fees

Certain features may require payment of fees (e.g., application fees) processed through our payment provider. Applicable fees, taxes, and refund conditions will be presented before purchase.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, design, and content (excluding user-provided content), is owned by the Company or its licensors and is protected by applicable law. You retain rights to content you submit and grant us a limited license to process it as necessary to provide the Service.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or where necessary to protect the Service or its users. Upon termination, certain provisions (including Sections 8–10) survive.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Seoul Eastern District Court (서울동부지방법원), which has jurisdiction over Songpa-gu, Seoul. / 본 약관 및 서비스에 관한 분쟁은 대한민국 법률에 따르며, 서울시 송파구를 관할하는 서울동부지방법원을 전속 관할 법원으로 합니다.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified through the Service or by email. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
